M-lamp Ceiling Lamp

M-lamp Ceiling Lamp

M-lamp Ceiling lamp is an innovative lighting fixture that exemplifies the fusion of abstract artistic expression and functional illumination, designed by Anastassiya Leonova. This sophisticated ceiling lamp draws its distinctive form from the mathematical concept of the Möbius strip, creating an ethereal, floating appearance that transforms depending on the viewing angle. The design, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in the Lighting Products and Fixtures Design category, represents a significant achievement in contemporary lighting design through its marriage of geometric precision and emotional resonance. Each lamp is meticulously handcrafted using multiple layers of bent plywood, which are carefully assembled, polished, and finished with walnut veneer and lacquer to achieve a warm, sophisticated aesthetic. The integration of LED technology, concealed beneath an acrylic diffuser, creates a thin strip of illumination that emphasizes the continuous flowing form while providing ambient lighting. Measuring 550mm in width, 200mm in depth, and 470mm in height, the lamp's dimensions are carefully calculated to maintain visual balance while ensuring practical functionality. The design process, which began in May 2015 in Almaty, Kazakhstan, involved extensive prototyping and material exploration to achieve the perfect balance between manufacturing feasibility and design integrity. This ceiling lamp not only serves as a functional lighting solution but also stands as a sculptural element that contributes to the emerging identity of contemporary Kazakhstani design, demonstrating how local craftsmanship can be elevated to meet international design standards.
