M House Residential House is an environmentally conscious residential project completed in 2014, located in Sai Kung, Hong Kong, that exemplifies innovative sustainable design principles while maintaining aesthetic appeal and functionality. This 2,554-square-foot holiday home demonstrates sophisticated architectural solutions through its thoughtful integration of natural light and spatial design elements. The structure's distinctive features include strategically positioned mezzanine spaces and carefully planned skylights that maximize daylight penetration, significantly reducing the need for artificial lighting and energy consumption. The interior design scheme employs a predominant white color palette to enhance natural light reflection and distribution throughout the space, while incorporating vibrant accent colors and artistic LED lighting elements to create warmth and personality. The project's environmental consciousness is evident in its material selection, featuring low or zero VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) products and natural materials throughout the construction. A notable architectural element is the implementation of folding doors in the living area, which creates a seamless indoor-outdoor connection, enhances spatial perception, improves natural ventilation, and optimizes sunlight exposure. This innovative approach to residential design, created by designer Anson Cheng, earned recognition with a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, acknowledging its excellence in sustainable design practices and creative space utilization.
