Lynch Commercial is an innovative interior design project that masterfully combines a hair salon and bar concept, exemplifying the glamorous aesthetics of the 1920s Jazz Age. Located in Taipei City, Taiwan, this 132-square-meter space demonstrates exceptional versatility through its dual-purpose functionality, operating as an upscale salon during daylight hours and transforming into an atmospheric bar by night. The design, created by Hsin Hao Huang and recognized with a Silver A' Design Award in Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design, features an abundance of mirrors that create an extended visual depth while serving both practical and aesthetic purposes. The interior's sophisticated material palette includes brass finishes, natural marble, vintage furniture, and Victorian tiles, all carefully selected to evoke the opulent atmosphere of the Great Gatsby era. The space is thoughtfully divided through a diamond-patterned partition that maintains visual connectivity while ensuring privacy, with the symmetrical entrance and diamond flooring pattern symbolically representing the merger of two distinct commercial functions. Notable design elements include a 270-degree panoramic mirror system, custom lighting solutions that function as spotlights for salon services, and a sophisticated bar area that draws inspiration from Shanghai's historic Bund district. The project's success lies in its ability to seamlessly integrate practical requirements with aesthetic excellence, featuring spacious salon chairs, luxurious marble countertops, and carefully considered traffic flow that accommodates both daytime and nighttime operations. This award-winning design exemplifies how historical references can be reinterpreted to create a contemporary commercial space that serves multiple functions while maintaining a cohesive design narrative.
