Love Over the Rock Hotel is an innovative interior design project that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of traditional Chinese philosophy with contemporary spatial design principles. Located in Taichung, Taiwan, this distinguished hospitality space draws its conceptual foundation from The Book of Changes and the traditional Chinese concept of Heaven, Earth, and Man. The design, created by Chuang Che Yung, masterfully integrates these philosophical elements through a sophisticated architectural narrative that begins with a cave-inspired primary space, where the seamless integration of walls and ceiling creates an impression of austere wilderness. The project's spatial organization follows a thoughtful sequence from living room to landscape to bedroom, with 30% of the bedroom space dedicated to plantings, creating an urban oasis effect. The design incorporates an innovative triangular configuration that effectively separates distinct functional areas, while employing geometric decorative styles that play with shadow, scale, and color through multilayered decorative effects. A particularly notable feature is the creative deconstruction and reconstruction of the Chinese characters Da Si Xi (meaning Four Happiness) throughout the space, with the character Da projected onto the ceiling to represent Tian (Heaven). This sophisticated interior earned recognition with a Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, acknowledging its exceptional achievement in spatial design, cultural integration, and innovative use of traditional elements in a contemporary context.
