Lothar Quinte

Lothar Quinte is arguably the most prominent German artist of the 19th century. He was born in Germany in 1824 and developed an early interest in art, creating many works during his adolescence. Quinte is best known for his paintings depicting the everyday life of the German people, particularly their rural lifestyle. His works often featured bright colors, emphasizing the vibrancy of the natural landscapes, as well as the unique personalities and expressions of the subjects. By showcasing the struggles and joys of life, his works are considered to be a major influence on later generations of German artists. Among his most renowned pieces include The Shepherd (1877), Projecting the Future (1880), and his Self-Portrait (1889), which remain some of the most iconic works of German art today.
