Lost In The City Poster
Lost in The City Poster is an innovative conceptual design project that challenges conventional urban navigation paradigms and explores the psychological aspects of wayfinding in metropolitan environments. This thought-provoking visual communication piece, created by designer Wan Yu Li, presents an alternative circulation system that encourages random movement and experiential exploration within city spaces. The design critically examines the rationality behind decision-making processes in urban navigation, questioning the predominant efficiency-oriented approach to city planning. Through a sophisticated combination of architectural theory and environmental psychology, the poster illustrates six distinct methodologies for achieving randomness in pedestrian circulation: selection processes, weather-dependent pathways, quantity-based variations, element combinations, temporal changes, and intentional confusion. The project encompasses multiple scales of urban intervention, from macro-level system design to micro-level spatial experiences, incorporating elements of urban, landscape, architectural, and interior design. The work garnered recognition with a Silver A' Design Award in the Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design category, acknowledging its innovative approach to reimagining urban spaces. The poster's conceptual framework proposes various interactive spaces including a circuit dining room, drifting passage, momentary theater, private cake factory, shifting garden, and secret playground, each designed to foster spontaneous, perception-driven experiences that challenge traditional notions of urban efficiency and promote a more personalized, emotionally engaging relationship with the city environment.
