Lorca Lighting

Lorca Lighting

Lorca Lighting is an innovative ceiling lamp design that exemplifies the intersection of literature, art, and functional lighting, created by Portuguese designer Monica Pinto de Almeida. This sculptural lighting fixture presents as a minimalist vertical line descending from the ceiling, distinguished by its integration of poetry along one edge of its rectangular form, creating an intimate dialogue between light, literature, and space. Crafted entirely from iron with a natural oxidized finish, the design achieves a sophisticated balance between industrial materiality and poetic expression. The lamp's dimensions, standing at 1600mm in height with a cross-section of 40mm x 90mm, create a striking vertical presence while maintaining elegant proportions. Its technical specifications include an integrated LED light source (230V, 50Hz, 357 lm, 3W) with a high color rendering index (CRI>80) and warm color temperature of 2700K, providing focused illumination through a 40-degree beam angle. This Silver A' Design Award-winning creation in the Lighting Products and Fixtures Design category represents a thoughtful exploration of how lighting fixtures can transcend mere functionality to become vehicles for cultural expression. The design's limited edition approach, producing only 10 pieces per literary author, underscores its position as a collectible art piece while maintaining its practical lighting function. The lamp's customizable height feature allows for versatile installation in various interior spaces, while its hidden LED fixture creates subtle accent lighting that enhances both the poetry display and the surrounding environment.
