Long Time Wall Clock

Long Time Wall Clock

Long Time Wall Clock is an innovative timepiece that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of traditional Japanese kirigami art with contemporary industrial design, created by Israeli designer Shelly Agronin. This sophisticated wall clock, measuring 96.5x17x5 centimeters, is crafted from a single laser-cut aluminum strip, demonstrating exceptional material efficiency and sustainable design principles. The clock's distinctive feature lies in its three-dimensional Roman numerals, which emerge through precise cutting and folding techniques inspired by kirigami, creating a captivating interplay between positive and negative spaces. The numerals, particularly the symmetrical 3 and 9, appear to float against the wall, positioned 5 centimeters from the mounting surface, adding a dramatic sculptural element to its minimalist aesthetic. The design process involved extensive research and development, including numerous paper prototypes to perfect the proportions, structural integrity, and visual impact. This innovative approach to timepiece design earned recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category, acknowledging its contribution to contemporary interior design through its unique combination of functionality, artistic expression, and sustainable manufacturing practices. The clock represents a significant achievement in transforming a conventional timekeeping device into an architectural statement piece, demonstrating how traditional craft techniques can be reimagined through modern manufacturing methods to create products that are both aesthetically sophisticated and environmentally conscious.
