Long House Residential House

Long House Residential House

Long House Residential House is an innovative residential architectural design located in the northern region of Bandung City, Indonesia, exemplifying a harmonious blend of contemporary aesthetics and environmental consciousness. This sophisticated dwelling, designed by architect Tonny Wirawan Suriadjaja, features a distinctive H-shaped configuration when viewed from above, comprising three strategically stacked masses that create a unique spatial arrangement. The structure's defining characteristic is its elongated, horizontal form, which serves both aesthetic and functional purposes, maximizing natural ventilation and panoramic views. The architectural composition demonstrates exceptional attention to sustainable design principles, incorporating extensive use of natural light, cross-ventilation, and integration with the surrounding landscape. The 665-square-meter residence employs a thoughtful material palette combining concrete, recycled wood, and glass, creating a modern tropical atmosphere that resonates with its environment. The ground floor houses communal spaces including living, dining, and service areas, while the second floor accommodates private quarters such as bedrooms and a study room, crowned by a social space on the rooftop level. Notable features include a shallow pond that naturally cools the structure, reducing energy consumption, and strategic positioning of the upper floor masses perpendicular to the ground floor to minimize direct sunlight exposure. The project, which earned the Silver A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building and Structure Design category, showcases innovative solutions for contemporary tropical living through its sophisticated integration of natural elements, sustainable features, and modern architectural principles.
