Livre Armchair

Livre Armchair

Livre Armchair is an elegant fusion of Asian-inspired design and contemporary furniture craftsmanship, created by Italian designer Federica Biasi between 2018 and 2020. This sophisticated seating solution exemplifies a harmonious blend of Eastern and Western design philosophies, featuring a distinctive solid wood base that pays homage to traditional Asian furniture construction techniques, where cylindrical elements were historically bound with ropes. The armchair's upper portion presents an enveloping, cocoon-like form that creates a striking contrast with its robust yet refined base structure. Measuring 82 centimeters in length, 74 centimeters in depth, and 67 centimeters in height, the chair's proportions are carefully calculated to ensure optimal comfort while maintaining visual lightness. The design successfully overcomes the challenge of combining soft, welcoming contours with a structurally prominent wooden base, achieving a delicate balance between comfort and architectural presence. The chair's innovative approach to furniture design earned it the prestigious Golden A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category in 2021, recognizing its exceptional contribution to contemporary furniture design through its unique synthesis of cultural elements, material exploration, and user-centered comfort. The design demonstrates particular attention to craftsmanship in its solid wood base construction, while the upholstered section provides a luxurious, embracing seating experience that invites moments of absolute relaxation. This piece represents a significant achievement in contemporary furniture design, where historical references are thoughtfully reinterpreted through a modern lens, creating a bridge between traditional craftsmanship and contemporary aesthetics.
