Literary Chair

Literary Chair

Literary Chair is an innovative furniture design that reimagines the traditional seating concept by drawing inspiration from the world of literature, specifically the form of an open book. Created by French designer Grasset François in 2020, this minimalist chair features a distinctive silhouette where the backrest and seat ingeniously mirror the curved pages of an open book, creating a visual metaphor that bridges the realms of furniture design and literary appreciation. The chair's construction employs a 22 mm tubular steel frame as its foundation, complemented by pressed molded polycarbonate components for the seat and backrest, all unified through a sophisticated lacquer finish. With dimensions of 420mm width, 440mm depth, and 840mm height, the Literary Chair achieves a delicate balance between conceptual design and functional practicality. Its spiritual and dreamy aesthetic invites users to immerse themselves in contemplation and imagination, much like the experience of reading itself. The design's versatility is enhanced by its stackable nature, making it suitable for both residential and commercial spaces. The chair's innovative approach to furniture design earned it a Bronze A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category in 2021, recognizing its creative merit and functional excellence. The design allows for customization through the potential addition of printed messages or images, further extending its versatility while maintaining its core identity as a tribute to literary culture.
