Ling Chatbot App is an innovative educational mobile application designed to address and prevent discrimination and harassment faced by Chinese international students through artificial intelligence-driven conversational interactions. This iOS-based platform, developed by UX designer Qian Wan, serves as a comprehensive resource for equity, diversity, and inclusion learning, incorporating real-time inquiry functionality and direct connections to institutional support systems. The application emerged as a response to the heightened incidents of racism and violence against Asians during the COVID-19 pandemic, specifically targeting the unique challenges faced by Chinese students adapting to foreign cultural environments. Through its sophisticated information architecture, the app employs a step-by-step conversational approach to help users identify various forms of racial discrimination and provides immediate access to appropriate support resources. The platform's distinctive feature lies in its ability to authenticate users through their student accounts, ensuring the delivery of institution-specific, trustworthy resources and support services. Recognized with an Iron A' Design Award in the Mobile Technologies, Applications and Software Design category, this application demonstrates exceptional user interface clarity and innovative functionality in addressing social equity concerns. The design process involved extensive research, including interviews with eleven Chinese international students studying in the United States, and utilized advanced design tools such as Figma, Sketch, and Illustrator to create an intuitive and accessible user experience. The app's development, spanning from June 2021 to August 2022, represents a significant advancement in educational technology's role in promoting social justice and cultural awareness.
