Lightime Wall Clock

Lightime Wall Clock

Lightime Wall Clock is an innovative timepiece that seamlessly integrates modern technology with minimalist design aesthetics, created by Canadian designer Arvin Maleki. This sophisticated wall clock, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category in 2022, features a distinctive circular form with a 15-centimeter radius and 42-millimeter depth, weighing 500 grams. The design's most notable characteristic is its intelligent lighting system that allows users to customize the clock's illumination to complement their interior environment and furniture. The clock's face eliminates traditional hands and central mechanisms, instead utilizing a moving light that travels along an infinite white circle to indicate time, creating a mesmerizing visual effect while reducing the anxiety often associated with time-watching. Developed between March 2021 and January 2022 in Vancouver, Canada, the clock represents a significant advancement in home timepiece design, combining functionality with aesthetic appeal. The design process, which began with hand sketches before progressing to digital modeling in Rhino software, focused on embedding electronic circuits seamlessly within the minimal structure. The Lightime Wall Clock's innovative approach to time display, coupled with its adaptable lighting technology and clean aesthetic, makes it particularly suitable for modern interior spaces where both functionality and design harmony are prioritized. The project exemplifies the successful integration of advanced technology with user-centered design principles, offering a fresh perspective on traditional timekeeping devices while maintaining practical utility.
