Light-emitting Diode Monitors
Light-emitting diode (LED) monitors are display screens that use LED backlighting technology to produce images on the screen. LED monitors are an improvement on the older liquid crystal display (LCD) monitors, which used cold cathode fluorescent lamps (CCFL) as their backlighting source. LED monitors are more energy-efficient, have a longer lifespan, and produce brighter and more vibrant images than their CCFL counterparts. LED monitors use an array of tiny light-emitting diodes to illuminate the screen. These diodes are arranged in a grid pattern behind the screen and emit light when an electrical current passes through them. The light produced by the diodes passes through the LCD layer, which controls the amount of light that passes through each pixel to create the image on the screen. LED monitors are available in two types: edge-lit and full-array. Edge-lit LED monitors have the diodes arranged around the edges of the screen, which allows for a thinner and lighter monitor. Full-array LED monitors have the diodes arranged in a grid pattern behind the entire screen, which provides better uniformity of brightness across the screen. Full-array LED monitors are also capable of local dimming, which allows for deeper blacks and better contrast ratios. LED monitors are popular in a variety of applications, including gaming, graphic design, and video editing. They are also commonly used in televisions, laptops, and mobile devices. LED monitors are available in a range of sizes and resolutions, from small portable monitors to large 4K displays.
