Light Composition Residential Apartment

Light Composition Residential Apartment

Light Composition Residential Apartment is an innovative interior design project that exemplifies sophisticated spatial planning and masterful light manipulation in contemporary residential architecture. Located in Taichung, Taiwan, this 450-square-meter residence, designed by Chien-Neng Chang, demonstrates exceptional integration of natural and artificial lighting elements throughout its interconnected spaces. The design's distinctive approach begins at the entryway, where customized brown wood veneers create a refined aesthetic that flows seamlessly into the living areas through thoughtfully designed lower cabinets and TV units. The interior showcases a harmonious blend of materials, featuring fair-face concrete-inspired wood walls, extensive clear glass installations, and carefully curated wooden elements that establish a cohesive visual narrative. The property's long layout is intelligently divided between living and dining areas using transparent glass partitions and display cabinets, while a Japanese-style patio adjacent to the dining room introduces an element of natural tranquility through its arrangement of plants and stones. The second-floor parlor maintains the design's semi-transparent aesthetic, while the master bedroom employs soft lighting to create an atmosphere of serenity and sophistication. The project, which won a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, is particularly noteworthy for its innovative use of suspended plants, comprehensive glass installations that manage cooking fumes, and the unique inclusion of a wood island counter that complements the overall wooden motif. The design's emphasis on natural light penetration reduces dependency on artificial lighting, while strategically placed indirect lighting creates an intimate ambiance during evening hours.
