KUNG HEI FAT CHOI Greetings, Joyful Chinese Holiday Wishes
KUNG HEI FAT CHOI Greetings, Joyful Chinese Holiday Wishes is an innovative digital greeting platform that reimagines traditional Chinese New Year celebrations through interactive web design, developed in Hong Kong and completed in 2016. This groundbreaking website design, which earned the Silver A' Design Award in Website and Web Design category, transforms conventional holiday greetings into an engaging digital experience by incorporating dynamic video loops and interactive elements inspired by contemporary social media aesthetics. The design employs HTML5 and 3D JS Engine technology to create a playful, immersive environment featuring traditional Chinese New Year elements while breaking conventional website design limitations. The interface uniquely implements a vertical scrolling mechanism that pays homage to traditional Chinese painting viewing customs, while incorporating modern interactive features where users can engage with animated team member videos that respond to clicks with choreographed gestures forming the letter C. The technical innovation lies in its seamless integration of looped video content, achieved through precise timing and careful consideration of website viewport dimensions, creating GIF-like animations that maintain professional quality while conveying warm holiday wishes. The design's cultural significance stems from its successful fusion of traditional Chinese New Year greetings (Kung Hei Fat Choi meaning May the Chinese New Year bring health, happiness and fortune) with contemporary digital interaction paradigms, establishing a new benchmark in cultural communication through web design.
