Kube Lounge
Kube Lounge is an innovative hospitality design project that exemplifies the seamless integration of indoor and outdoor spaces within an urban context. Conceived as a multifunctional recreational space spanning 800 square meters, this architectural intervention transforms a rooftop area into a dynamic social platform that adapts to various activities throughout the day. The design philosophy draws inspiration from romantic ruins and natural elements, incorporating exposed brick walls, raw concrete, and reclaimed materials to create a sophisticated yet organic atmosphere. The space's architectural composition cleverly navigates existing structural constraints, including an 8'6 height limitation and a linear beam-column grid, by transforming these potential limitations into design features that define distinct functional zones. Notable design elements include customized 8x8 three-dimensional concrete blocks crafted by local artisans, strategically placed vintage doors and windows that serve as transitional elements, and thoughtfully arranged courtyards that optimize natural ventilation and sunlight patterns. The project, which earned recognition at the A' Design Award in the Hospitality, Recreation, Travel and Tourism Design category, demonstrates exceptional versatility in its ability to accommodate diverse activities ranging from morning yoga sessions to evening musical performances. The design's sustainable approach is evident in its material selection, emphasizing locally sourced elements that develop character with age, while the spatial planning facilitates flexible arrangements through modular furniture systems. The integration of open courtyards, a central bar, and an open kitchen creates natural nodes for social interaction, while the carefully considered lighting design transforms the ambiance from bright, airy daytime spaces to intimate, starlit evening venues.
