Ksd-1, Horizon Lounge Chair Lounge Chair

ksd-1, Horizon Lounge Chair Lounge Chair is an innovative furniture design that masterfully merges automotive aesthetics with functional comfort, drawing inspiration from vintage Formula 1 race cars while addressing the universal human experience of finding tranquility in vehicle seating. This Silver A' Design Award-winning creation employs a sophisticated construction methodology reminiscent of aircraft manufacturing, utilizing a ribs and spars framework overlaid with precision-formed sheet metal. The chair's architectural composition mirrors classic race car engineering, featuring a chassis-based structure that serves as the foundational framework for the body and accompanying components. Measuring 877mm x 853mm x 800mm, the design showcases a harmonious blend of paint-coated sheet metal and satin-finished wood panels, with upholstery patterns that pay homage to traditional racing vehicle interiors. The seating and backrest are ingeniously crafted as a single wooden structure, enhanced with leather upholstery that emphasizes both comfort and aesthetic appeal. The design's conceptual foundation draws from the nostalgic childhood experience of falling asleep in the backseat of a car, incorporating sensory memories of leather textures and the secure feeling of automotive interiors. This artistic interpretation of automotive design in furniture form demonstrates exceptional material customization possibilities while maintaining its distinctive silhouette, earning recognition in the Fine Arts and Art Installation Design category for its innovative approach to furniture design.
