Kona Coffee Corner

Kona Coffee Corner

Kona Coffee corner is an innovative interior design solution created by designers Vadim Korovin and Dmitry Korovin that reimagines the traditional retail coffee experience through a sophisticated architectural intervention. This distinctive installation, which won an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, represents a harmonious fusion of functionality and aesthetic appeal within commercial spaces. The design draws inspiration from the organic forms of lotus flowers and tree branches, featuring a circular-segment structure crafted from MDF with ash veneer and colored wood wax finishing, complemented by powder-coated metal panels. Standing at 2500mm in height with a footprint of 2300mm by 2300mm, this architectural element transforms otherwise mundane store columns into engaging social spaces while efficiently utilizing retail floor area. The design creates an intimate coffee-drinking sanctuary within the bustling retail environment, employing thoughtful lighting and strategic positioning to offer patrons a sense of privacy without complete isolation. This innovative approach to commercial interior design addresses the growing consumer demand for experiential retail spaces, particularly in the Russian market where such concepts were relatively novel at the time of its creation in 2014. The structure's organic, flowing design language not only serves its practical purpose but also contributes to the overall aesthetic appeal of the retail environment, demonstrating how architectural elements can be transformed from potential obstacles into attractive, functional features that enhance the customer experience.
