Keymotif Key Holder

Keymotif Key Holder

Keymotif Key holder is an innovative wall-mounted key organization system that seamlessly blends traditional Greek textile motifs with contemporary functionality, representing a sophisticated interpretation of cultural heritage in modern product design. Designed by Vassilis Mylonadis, this thoughtfully crafted piece consists of a base unit and two detachable key holders, measuring 110 mm x 110 mm x 30 mm, constructed from precision laser-cut okoume wood and white plexiglass. The design draws its inspiration from the intricate patterns found in traditional Northern Greek loom-woven textiles, transforming two-dimensional folkloric elements into a functional three-dimensional object for everyday use. The key holder's distinctive feature lies in its interactive design element, where removing a key holder from its base reveals a colored footprint, creating a visual indicator of presence and absence in the space. This innovative approach to key storage, which won the Iron A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category in 2017, demonstrates exceptional material harmony between the natural warmth of okoume wood and the modern aesthetic of plexiglass. The design successfully addresses both functional and aesthetic considerations, offering a practical solution for key organization while serving as a contemporary interpretation of cultural heritage, packaged in a thoughtfully designed stamped cardboard container with rubber band closure measuring 120 mm x 140 mm x 33 mm.
