KEIUN BUILDING Office

KEIUN BUILDING Office is a distinguished four-story multi-tenant architectural project located between Shibuya and Harajuku in Tokyo, Japan, exemplifying innovative solutions for urban office spaces on narrow sites. Designed by Kensuke Aisaka, this remarkable structure, completed with a total floor area of 429.75 square meters, demonstrates exceptional attention to environmental considerations and aesthetic sensitivity. The building's most notable feature is its sophisticated approach to solar control, utilizing an ingenious aluminum mesh system fitted to the ALC outer walls, functioning similarly to traditional rattan blinds. These 2mm-thick aluminum panels are engineered to accommodate thermal expansion in summer and contraction in winter, while their modular design facilitates easy maintenance. The facade's distinctive aesthetic draws inspiration from Japanese cultural heritage, incorporating five traditional colors: Akane-iro (madder), Ebicha-iro (reddish brown), Hiwada-iro (dusky red), Bengara-iro (Bengal red), and Kuri-iro (sorrel). This thoughtful color scheme not only creates an eye-catching visual effect but also contributes to landscape preservation while acknowledging the building's proximity to the Olympic stadium. The project, which earned a Silver A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building and Structure Design category, showcases exceptional architectural innovation through its dual-facade design, addressing both eastern and western exposures with equal consideration. The building's efficient use of its 131.81 square meter site area demonstrates masterful space utilization in dense urban environments, while its cultural sensitivity and technical innovation establish it as a significant contribution to contemporary Japanese architecture.
