Kayan 2022 Calendar

Kayan 2022 Calendar

Kayan 2022 Calendar is an innovative dual-purpose design artifact that seamlessly combines functionality and aesthetic appeal, manifesting as a foldable poster that transforms into a pocket-sized leaflet. This sophisticated calendar design, created by Hassan Taher, features a minimalist approach where each month is represented by distinct geometric forms inspired by architectural elements, with dates elegantly arranged around iconic shapes and weekends distinguished through thoughtful color differentiation. The calendar's ingenious design, which earned recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design category, demonstrates exceptional versatility through its transformative nature - functioning both as a practical calendar and an architectural poster. Measuring 59.4 x 59.4 cm when fully opened and folding down to a compact 14.85 x 14.85 cm, the piece is printed on premium wood-free paper with 170 gsm thickness, ensuring durability and professional presentation. The design's sophisticated dual-functionality allows it to serve as a practical calendar throughout its primary use period, after which it can be displayed as an architectural poster featuring a carefully curated collage of architectural details on its reverse side. The calendar's layout incorporates ample white space for user annotations while maintaining a clean, intuitive design that eliminates the need for traditional day headers, exemplifying a perfect balance between functional necessity and design elegance. This innovative approach to calendar design represents a significant advancement in visual communication, combining practical utility with architectural aesthetics in a way that transcends traditional calendar design conventions.
