Kasho Gyoen Hotel Hotel is an architecturally distinctive luxury accommodation facility situated within the pristine environs of Shikotsu-Toya National Park in Hokkaido, Japan, exemplifying a harmonious blend of contemporary design and local craftsmanship. Conceived and brought to life by architect Hideyuki Hiramoto, this remarkable hospitality project, completed in 2018, encompasses a total floor area of 2,912 square meters and features 23 meticulously crafted suite rooms. The architectural narrative draws profound inspiration from the raw power of Hokkaido's natural landscape, transforming the initial sense of nature's overwhelming presence into an experience of sublime delight for guests. The design philosophy, characterized as A Secret Villa In Unexplored Regions, manifests through the thoughtful integration of indigenous materials, including Sapporo Soft Stone sourced from nearby quarries and locally-harvested Oak and Ash timber, which are emblematic of Hokkaido's wilderness. The hotel's centerpiece is an innovative interpretation of the traditional Japanese IRORI (hearth), crafted from local Sapporo Soft Stone, serving as both a architectural focal point and a social nucleus in the lobby area. The interior design scheme incorporates sophisticated lighting elements that change colors monthly, reflecting the seasonal transformation of local flora, while the strategic positioning of spaces, including a Floating Terrace, restaurant, bar, and beauty salon, maximizes guests' connection with the surrounding landscape.
