Kanpai Citrus Liqueur is an innovative alcoholic beverage packaging design that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of cultural heritage and modern design aesthetics, developed to showcase the rich citrus heritage of Taichung City, Taiwan. The design, created by Hui Tu in 2022, features sophisticated geometric interpretations of local citrus fruits, specifically tankan and ponkan, transformed into distinctive visual elements that form the core of its brand identity. The packaging's dimensions of 80 x 80 x 240 mm are carefully considered to create an elegant, premium presentation that elevates the perception of locally-sourced agricultural products. Through the implementation of advanced production techniques, including three-dimensional PET printing and specialized partial glazing and punching methods, the design successfully captures the textural essence of citrus fruit skin, creating a tactile and visually engaging experience. The project, which emerged from comprehensive design research and consumer feedback, addresses the challenge of positioning agricultural products in a premium market segment through sophisticated design solutions. The name Kanpai, meaning Bottoms Up in Chinese, reinforces the celebratory nature of the product while paying homage to its cultural roots. This design innovation, recognized with an Iron A' Design Award in the Packaging Design category, demonstrates excellence in combining functional efficiency with aesthetic appeal, successfully elevating a local agricultural product to a premium market position through thoughtful design intervention.
