Kalleh Portion Cheese Packaging

Kalleh Portion Cheese Packaging

Kalleh Portion Cheese Packaging is an innovative packaging design solution that revolutionizes the presentation and preservation of processed cheese products through a thoughtful combination of cultural symbolism and functional design. Created by Iranian designer Hasan Yoghar in 2016, this packaging system ingeniously incorporates architectural landmarks as visual elements to communicate the origin and character of different cheese varieties, making unfamiliar products more accessible to local consumers. The design's distinctive approach merges the structural integrity of traditional landmarks with appetizing visual cues, creating an engaging narrative that bridges cultural recognition with product appeal. The packaging utilizes aluminum foil as its primary material, chosen for its superior barrier properties against light, moisture, and environmental contamination, thereby extending the product's shelf life significantly. With dimensions of 107mm in width and 23mm in depth, the design incorporates a portion-control system that allows consumers to preserve unused product after opening, contributing to reduced food waste and environmental sustainability. The design earned recognition with a Bronze A' Design Award in the Packaging Design category in 2018, acknowledging its innovative approach to combining cultural elements with practical functionality. The project successfully addresses the challenge of introducing new cheese varieties to a traditional market by creating a premium visual identity that maintains the architectural integrity of cultural landmarks while presenting them in an appetizing context, effectively communicating both product origin and quality through its design elements.
