Kaleidoscope Restaurant

Kaleidoscope Restaurant

Kaleidoscope Restaurant is an innovative interior design project that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of traditional Japanese aesthetics with contemporary architectural elements, completed in 2020 in Taipei. The 200-square-meter space is distinguished by its striking facade design inspired by kaleidoscopic patterns, featuring irregular geometric figures crafted from walnut veneer and laminate hard plastic sheets with architectural concrete patterns. The interior showcases a sophisticated blend of materials and artistic elements, including an Ukiyo-e style warrior neon sign and custom wall paintings that narrate the proprietor's vision. The design ingeniously addresses structural challenges by transforming three immovable steel columns into aesthetic features through arc designs that complement the kaleidoscopic theme. The space incorporates thoughtful elements such as eco-friendly Lotos plaster walls with trowel finish, hound-tooth wall fabric in the eight-person booth area, and a dramatic bar area featuring black walnut geometric designs with backlit elements. The private dining room exemplifies meticulous attention to detail with red and black wall fabric creating a majestic atmosphere, while the second floor features solid wood grille work that creates captivating light and shadow interplay against blue wall fabric. This exceptional design earned the Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category in 2021, recognizing its innovative use of space, material selection excellence, and creative vision in commercial interior design.
