Kabootar Khaneh Villa

Kabootar Khaneh Villa

Kabootar Khaneh Villa is an innovative architectural masterpiece that exemplifies the harmonious coexistence between humans and nature, specifically designed to integrate bird habitation within its residential spaces. Located in Tehran, this minimalist cubic structure, completed in 2018, spans 210 square meters of built area on a 332-square-meter plot, rising to a height of 10.6 meters. The villa's distinctive design draws inspiration from traditional Iranian dovecotes, featuring a central patio specifically designed for birds, around which the interior spaces are thoughtfully arranged through intricate level differences and cross-sectional plays. The architectural composition demonstrates exceptional attention to biophilic principles, incorporating recycled wood materials from local historic buildings and indigenous sedimentary rocks in its construction. A notable technical innovation is the concealed sloping roof, hidden behind walls to maintain the building's pure cubic form while efficiently managing rainwater collection for landscape irrigation. The interior design showcases sophisticated spatial arrangements with carefully positioned windows that create dynamic light patterns and viewing sequences throughout the day. The staircase, evolving differently on each floor, serves as both a functional element and an artistic feature, connecting various spaces while offering unique perspectives of the surrounding environment. This Bronze A' Design Award-winning project in the Architecture, Building and Structure Design category represents a significant advancement in residential architecture, particularly in its approach to environmental integration and sustainable design practices.
