Junzi Interior Design

Junzi Interior Design

Junzi Interior Design is an award-winning interior architectural project that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of traditional Chinese cultural elements with contemporary design aesthetics. Created by designer Jui-Yu Hsu, this 180-square-meter restaurant space masterfully integrates spiritual Oriental elements through thoughtful architectural and decorative choices. The design's distinctive features include uneven wooden flats that create an upward-spiraling majestic atmosphere, complemented by red cage-style suspended lights that echo traditional Chinese lanterns. The space employs a sophisticated material palette, featuring light yellow wood tones and grey-matte floor tiles that effectively merge visual aesthetics with functional durability. Notable design elements include an L-style reception counter adorned with Chinese painting, symmetrical flower-patterned lattice sliding doors, and strategically placed coupled seating arrangements that reflect the concept of 'junzi' (the Confucian ideal of an upright person). The interior's layout demonstrates exceptional space optimization, with careful consideration given to traffic flow and customer comfort, particularly evident in the window-adjacent double seating arrangement. This sophisticated design, which was completed in November 2016 in New Taipei City, Taiwan, received recognition at the A' Design Award competition, earning an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category for its innovative approach to spatial design and cultural representation.
