JR Wines - The Experience Wine Tasting Bar is an innovative interior design project that revolutionizes the traditional wine tasting experience through its thoughtful spatial arrangement and immersive architectural elements. This sophisticated establishment, designed by Amer Abidi in collaboration with Firas Haddad and Fares Haddad, masterfully transforms a compact 100-square-meter indoor space and 94-square-meter outdoor terrace into an engaging wine education destination. The design's centerpiece is a dramatic 4-meter-high floor-to-ceiling wine cellar that serves as both a functional storage solution and a theatrical focal point, where sommeliers perform the ceremonial retrieval of wine bottles via ladders, creating an engaging spectacle for guests. The interior architecture harmoniously incorporates sustainable materials sourced directly from the vineyard's environment, featuring recycled basalt stone walls and olive tree wood furnishings, establishing a profound connection to the wine's terroir. The space employs an innovative communal seating arrangement that not only maximizes the limited floor area but also facilitates social interaction among visitors, transforming strangers into friends through shared wine appreciation experiences. Expert sommeliers guide guests through carefully curated wine tastings at each communal table, complemented by thoughtfully paired fruits and cheeses, while the gallery walls showcase nearly two centuries of winemaking heritage through visual narratives. This exceptional design, which was completed in December 2017, earned recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, acknowledging its outstanding contribution to experiential retail design and its success in creating an educational, social, and sensory-rich environment that celebrates wine culture.
