Josef Eberz

Josef Eberz (1889-1954) was a renowned German artist whose works were noted for their vivid use of light and color. He studied at the Kunstakademie München and focused on German Expressionism, primarily experimenting with scenes that depicted life in rural Germany. Eberz's most famous works include 'Mountain and Lake' (1931), 'Gentleman in the Train' (1936), and 'Street in Düsseldorf' (1941). His works often draw on his interest in nature, as exhibited in 'Mountain and Lake', which depicts a landscape in the Bavarian Alps. 'Gentleman in the Train' is equally as striking, depicting an elderly man in a train station with an air of contentment. 'Street in Düsseldorf', meanwhile, captures the scene of a urban street in a light-filled dusk. Josef Eberz's artwork has become a cornerstone of German Expressionism and his works continue to enthrall viewers.
