JiuJianTang Club is an innovative interior design project that reimagines a basement space into a sophisticated private club, drawing inspiration from the mystical narrative of The Wizard of Oz and natural forest aesthetics. Located in Shanghai and completed in 2017, this 95-square-meter establishment represents a departure from conventional KTV venues through its thoughtful integration of multiple interactive areas that encourage social engagement and conversation. The design, created by Xiaorui Zhou, masterfully combines mysterious purple and abstruse blue hues to create a deep, stylish atmosphere, while incorporating artificial green plants at the ceiling with strategic steel plate placement to manage acoustics. The space features distinctive design elements including mottled light patterns, tree shadow wallpapers, and carefully concealed lighting that creates an ethereal, dawn-like ambiance reminiscent of a foggy forest. The layout abandons traditional enclosed spaces in favor of a more fluid, open concept that redefines spatial functionality while maintaining intimate zones for various activities such as singing, drinking, billiards, and casual conversation. Notable features include a gorgeous carpet with rich texturing that complements a striking red billiard table, enhancing the dimensional experience of the dark space. The project, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category in 2019, demonstrates exceptional achievement in creating a harmonious blend of practical functionality and atmospheric design, offering visitors an escape into what feels like a green fairyland while maintaining high practicality and sophisticated audiovisual integration.
