Jis Sapporo Bar Lounge

Jis Sapporo Bar Lounge

Jis Sapporo Bar Lounge is a groundbreaking futuristic interior design project located in Sapporo City, Hokkaido, Japan, that reimagines the conventional bar lounge concept through a visionary lens of how spaces might evolve 200 years into the future. Completed in October 2016 by Japanese designer Atsuhiko Sugiyama, this innovative establishment represents a paradigm shift in hospitality design by seamlessly integrating biophilic elements with advanced spatial concepts. The design's centerpiece features a dramatic ceiling installation simulating clouds, through which emerges a monumental bean tree, creating an ethereal atmosphere that challenges traditional perceptions of gravity and space. The interior architecture employs sophisticated curved grid patterns as space partitions, departing from conventional linear designs to embrace organic, flowing forms that echo natural structures. This forward-thinking approach reflects an emerging design philosophy that anticipates the evolution of built environments towards greater integration with natural elements. The space is deliberately crafted to evoke a sensation of floating, achieved through careful deconstruction and reimagining of natural elements within an interior context. This extraordinary design earned recognition with a Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, acknowledging its exceptional contribution to innovative spatial design. The project's success lies in its ability to create an immersive environment that not only enhances visitors' creative thinking but also establishes new benchmarks for experiential design in hospitality spaces.
