Japanese Sake “KOI” Bottle And Box

Japanese Sake KOI Bottle and Box is an innovative packaging design that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of traditional Japanese aesthetics with contemporary design sensibilities. This distinguished creation features a white porcelain bottle adorned with striking red patterns directly printed on its surface, meticulously crafted to embody the essence of Koi, Japan's revered ornamental carp. The design's exceptional artistry is manifested through the bottle's carp-like silhouette and the masterful application of Japanese brush stroke techniques in creating the distinctive red patterns. The outer box, precisely cut in the shape of a Koi fish, enhances the visual narrative while incorporating premium materials such as Kihoushi-FS paper and gold foil accents for the Japanese typography. The interior is elegantly lined with gold-sprinkled red paper, creating a luxurious presentation that elevates the 720ml sake vessel. This sophisticated packaging solution, developed in 2015, overcame significant technical challenges in printing on curved porcelain surfaces through a meticulous three-part transfer process requiring precise hand application and kiln firing. The design not only serves its primary function as a sake container but transcends into a decorative art piece, offering extended value beyond its initial use. The project's cultural significance is deeply rooted in its connection to Niigata, Japan's historic Koi breeding region, and its representation of the living jewel status associated with these magnificent fish. This exceptional work was honored with the Platinum A' Design Award in the Packaging Design category, recognizing its outstanding contribution to the field of packaging design through its innovative approach, cultural relevance, and aesthetic excellence.
