J1M5 Boutique Buyer's Shop is an innovative retail space design that revolutionizes traditional store layouts through its unique luggage box concept, seamlessly integrating mobility and flexibility in commercial interior design. This 266-square-meter space, completed in October 2020 in Qingdao, China, represents a groundbreaking approach to retail design by incorporating transformable elements that can create varying spatial configurations. The design's most distinctive feature is its system of 360-degree rotating cabinets that function as columns, rails, wardrobes, fitting rooms, and display windows, enabling multiple layout possibilities while maximizing space utilization. The ceiling design demonstrates exceptional technical integration, concealing complex systems including cabinet moving tracks, spot lighting, and air conditioning, while maintaining a clean, ordered aesthetic through the use of micro cement and stainless steel materials. The space's versatility allows it to accommodate various functions, from fashion shows to pop-up events and small-scale press conferences, with adjustable columns that can generate different catwalk routes and spatial patterns. The design, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, showcases an innovative blend of rational functionality and artistic sensibility, featuring livid wood materials for the rotating cabinets and a sophisticated lighting system that combines ceiling light boards with PC frosted materials to create an engaging atmospheric experience.
