IO Pod Bunk Bed

IO Pod Bunk Bed

IO Pod Bunk Bed is an innovative, multifunctional children's furniture system that exemplifies versatile design through its ability to adapt to growing children's needs. Designed by Mina Panic and Carlo Filippo Negri, this transformable furniture piece combines sleeping, storage, and study spaces in a single cohesive unit. The design, which won the prestigious Golden A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category, features clean, uncluttered lines and a playful aesthetic while maintaining complete functionality. Crafted from sustainable Scandinavian birch plywood, chosen for its strength, warmth, and durability, the pod can be configured in multiple arrangements including a bunk bed, two separate single beds, or a combination of elevated bed with desk space beneath. The manufacturing process integrates skilled local craftsmanship with advanced CNC technology, minimizing waste while ensuring high-quality production. Measuring 230cm in width, 94cm in depth, and 155cm in height, the structure incorporates concealed fixings and requires minimal tools for assembly, featuring just four end sections, four side panels, and two bases per bed configuration. The engineering behind the design enables straightforward conversion between different arrangements, making it particularly practical for parents while providing children with a furniture piece that evolves with their needs. The pod's design adheres to strict UK and European safety regulations, having undergone comprehensive testing to ensure its suitability for long-term use from toddler years through adolescence, embodying sustainable thinking in both its construction and lifecycle adaptability.
