Involve Factory And Office

Involve Factory and Office is an innovative architectural project completed in 2018 in Nisshin city, Aichi prefecture, Japan, that revolutionizes the traditional concept of industrial and office space design through its unique spiral form inspired by mathematical principles. The structure, designed by Hisanori Ban, Terashima Kazumoto, and Chihiro Yamashita, employs the equiangular spiral (also known as logarithmic spiral) as its foundational design element, creating a distinctive geometric and economical structural system that facilitates enhanced worker interaction and productivity. This architectural marvel, spanning 2,450 square meters across four levels (basement and three floors), reaches a height of 9 meters and utilizes a hybrid structure of steel and reinforced concrete. The building's spiral design inherently promotes communication and collaboration among workers, as the circulation pattern naturally encourages more frequent interactions compared to conventional rectangular layouts. The structure's presence on a hillside creates a sculptural landmark that harmoniously integrates with its surroundings, effectively reviving a former forest site through thoughtful landscape design and tree planting. The project, which earned the Silver A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design category, showcases remarkable innovation in its structural system, where columns, beams, and cross-bracing follow a repeating pattern of identical connection details, achieving both geometric precision and aesthetic beauty through the mathematical properties of the logarithmic spiral. The interior spaces feature rhythmical elements that welcome both visitors and local residents, while the overall design successfully balances functional efficiency with architectural artistry, creating a workspace that actively promotes collaboration and community engagement.
