Inky Black And Bamboo Green Restaurant
Inky Black and Bamboo Green Restaurant is an innovative commercial Korean dining establishment designed by Chi Ching Ko and Pi Chu Wei, distinguished by its sophisticated integration of bamboo grove motifs throughout its 423-square-meter interior space. The restaurant's design philosophy masterfully combines traditional Asian aesthetics with contemporary architectural elements, featuring extensive bamboo cladding on the exterior and fresh green bamboo decorative elements at the reception area. The interior space is characterized by its striking use of black metal accents, strategic lighting design, and L-shaped free-standing black mirrors that extend to the ceiling, creating a dynamic interplay between spatial flow and visual perception. The ground floor showcases a high-gloss concrete finish that harmoniously complements the exterior windows, while the innovative use of wood-wool cement boards, manufactured from compressed sawdust, demonstrates a commitment to sustainable design practices and acoustic optimization. The restaurant's distinctive features include angled black mirrors with concealed lighting that creates an engaging visual experience for passersby, who can observe reflected dining scenes, while a Japanese round table ingeniously utilizes the space beneath the stairwell. The second floor presents a more expansive layout with enhanced illumination, offering a contrasting spatial atmosphere while maintaining design coherence. This exceptional interior design project, which was completed in 2012 in Taichung City, Taiwan, received recognition with a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, acknowledging its outstanding achievement in commercial space design through its thoughtful integration of functionality, aesthetics, and sustainable practices.
