In Between House

In Between House

In Between House is an innovative architectural project that exemplifies the harmonious integration of traditional design elements with contemporary living spaces, distinguished by its unique approach to dissolving boundaries between interior and exterior environments. Located in Hamadan, Iran, this residential structure, designed by architect Seyedjalil Mousavi, reinterprets the traditional concept of porches to create dynamic transitional spaces that serve as extensions of the living areas. The 14x10-meter structure, rising to a height of 11.4 meters, features distinctive brick envelopes on each side that form thoughtfully designed porches, establishing a seamless connection between the house and its urban context. The architectural composition comprises three levels: a ground floor incorporating indoor spaces, parking, and auxiliary facilities; a first floor featuring duplex dining and living areas with essential amenities; and a second floor accommodating family bedrooms and supporting spaces. The project's material palette contrasts traditional brick exteriors with contemporary white marble flooring and plastered interior walls, creating a sophisticated dialogue between historical and modern elements. This Bronze A' Design Award-winning project in the Architecture, Building and Structure Design category demonstrates exceptional innovation in residential architecture through its careful consideration of spatial relationships, cultural sensitivity, and urban integration, while successfully addressing practical challenges including budget constraints and municipal requirements.
