Iguchi Funabori Hospital is an innovative healthcare facility interior design project located in Tokyo, Japan, completed in 2018, that revolutionizes traditional hospital aesthetics through its artistic and geometric spatial design approach. The 115-square-meter space transforms the conventional clinical environment into an art-inspired healing space, featuring carefully orchestrated geometric patterns that flow seamlessly across floors, walls, and ceilings. The design, conceived and executed by Japanese designer Takuji Kamio, specifically addresses the psychological needs of renal urology patients by creating a luxurious, museum-like atmosphere that helps alleviate anxiety and stress. The interior showcases a sophisticated interplay of ceramic and vinyl tiles arranged in varying directions, complemented by an intricate LED lighting system that spans 50 meters, emphasizing the architectural elements and creating dynamic visual movement throughout the space. The project's distinctive features include dimensional lighting, stainless steel accents, and laser-cut metal details that contribute to its artistic ambiance. The entrance features a transparent glass wall that provides clear wayfinding while maintaining an open, welcoming atmosphere. The design earned recognition with a Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, acknowledging its innovative approach to healthcare facility design.
