IgniStudio Jewelry Gallery Workshop is an innovative interior design project that seamlessly integrates a jewelry production workspace with an exhibition gallery, creating a unique experiential retail environment. Located in the Cumbaya Valley of Quito, Ecuador, this 40-square-meter space represents a revolutionary approach to jewelry retail design, where the traditional boundaries between production and display are deliberately blurred to create an immersive customer experience. The design, conceived by architect and designer Johanna Cevallos, draws inspiration from the geometric patterns found in precious stones and metals, incorporating polygonal and triangular forms throughout the interior architecture and furniture design. The space features a sophisticated envelope structure crafted from gypsum boards with reflective finishes, supported by galvanized steel framework, while wood wall coverings delineate private areas and create focal points. The workshop area exhibits industrial design elements with exposed connections and wall outlets, complemented by intentionally imperfect wooden furniture that authentically represents a working environment. The polished concrete flooring throughout unifies the space, while the thoughtfully designed pendant display system serves as a functional barrier between the public gallery and semi-private workshop areas. This Bronze A' Design Award-winning project in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category demonstrates exceptional spatial planning that allows clients to participate in the jewelry creation process while maintaining necessary safety protocols for areas with flammable materials. The design's open façade creates a strong connection with its retail plaza context, inviting passersby to engage with both the displayed jewelry and the creation process, representing a significant innovation in jewelry retail design that transforms the traditional shopping experience into an artistic journey.
