Iceberg Sculpture is an innovative interior art installation series that explores the intersection of environmental consciousness and artistic expression through the medium of recycled glass. Created by Finnish glass artist Sini Majuri, these sculptural pieces serve as a poignant commentary on climate change while showcasing the versatility and beauty of sustainable materials. Each sculpture is meticulously handcrafted using mouth-blown recycled glass, incorporating various specialized techniques that mimic the different states of ice, including sandblasting for dim and frosty surfaces, and the strategic use of metal oxides for unique color variations. The sculptures, measuring approximately 250 mm x 250 cm x 24 mm, feature distinctive surface textures achieved through innovative processes such as hot-cold treatment, where hot glass is dipped in cold water to create intricate cracking patterns. The series is particularly notable for its ability to be arranged into mountain range configurations, creating immersive mental landscapes that reflect the fragile beauty of Northern scenery. Each piece bears unique characteristics, including cold marks that serve as individual fingerprints, contributing to their inimitable character. The work garnered international recognition, including a Silver A' Design Award in the Fine Arts and Art Installation Design category, acknowledging its exceptional artistic merit and environmental message. The sculptures demonstrate remarkable versatility in their installation possibilities, with light interaction creating compelling optical illusions and water-like shadows, enhancing their aesthetic and conceptual impact.
