Hunger Games Installation is a thought-provoking contemporary art installation that addresses critical societal issues such as excessive consumption, food waste, and global hunger through a sophisticated arrangement of suspended culinary objects. Created by Turkish artist Derya Geylani Vurusan, this Bronze A' Design Award-winning installation features an intricate composition of avant-garde porcelain plates, glasses, and metal cutlery collected from various countries, suspended from the ceiling to create an illusion of floating elements. The installation, which spans 6 square meters, incorporates approximately 250 individual pieces, including transparent glass-blown forms representing spaghetti, vegetables, and fruits, strategically placed within the porcelain vessels and cutlery to establish an ironic dialogue between existence and non-existence. The technical execution involves specialized drilling techniques for each piece, with metal hanging apparatuses and fishing line used to achieve the desired suspended effect. At the installation's focal point, giant metal cutlery sculptures are displayed alongside glass-shaped spaghetti forms, creating a powerful visual narrative. The project, which garnered recognition in the Fine Arts and Art Installation Design category at the A' Design Award, demonstrates exceptional craftsmanship through its incorporation of heirloom porcelain, hot glass blowing techniques, and meticulous attention to detail in its presentation, complemented by a custom-designed wallpaper that enhances the conceptual framework of the exhibition space.
