Huajiang Science Lab Classroom Renovation is an innovative educational space design project that exemplifies the evolution of modern scientific learning environments, completed in August 2023 in Taipei City. This comprehensive renovation transforms a traditional classroom into a dynamic 108-square-meter experimental space specifically designed to facilitate hands-on scientific learning experiences for students. The design, which earned the Silver A' Design Award in Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, features a thoughtfully conceived dual-zone layout comprising a primary teaching area and an exploration space. The architectural centerpiece includes a distinctive curved ceiling that symbolizes centripetal force and represents the universe's vastness, inspiring scientific curiosity among students. The space incorporates U-shaped student desks oriented toward a central teaching area equipped with a large touch screen, optimizing visual engagement and interactive learning opportunities. Notable functional elements include strategically positioned handwashing stations to streamline laboratory procedures and a carefully designed teacher's preparation desk that enables comprehensive student supervision. The renovation's sophisticated approach to spatial organization is further enhanced by a semi-circular opening connecting the main classroom to an adjacent library space, creating a seamless flow between learning environments. The design demonstrates exceptional attention to emotional and psychological factors through its careful selection of colors and materials, while the implementation of wood carpentry and on-site painting techniques ensures a warm, inviting atmosphere that promotes scientific exploration and discovery.
