House A Half Mini House

House A Half Mini House

House a Half Mini House is an innovative architectural design project that exemplifies the concept of minimalist living and offline lifestyle integration, created by designer Hide Lin in Taiwan. This 60-square-meter wooden structure, completed in March 2020, represents a thoughtful approach to contemporary living spaces that challenges conventional urban housing paradigms. The design, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building and Structure Design category, features a unique 1.5-floor layout comprising 45 square meters of common living space on the first floor and a loft bedroom area above. The structure employs a sophisticated tongue and groove construction method, utilizing sustainably sourced wood from 50-60 year old thinned forests in Kochi, Japan, demonstrating environmental consciousness in material selection. Distinguished by its innovative features, including movable furniture that extends into outdoor spaces, a portable ladder system that doubles as a hanging storage, and a smokeless flying saucer-type fireplace, the house embodies a harmonious blend of functionality and aesthetic appeal. The design philosophy emphasizes disconnection from digital life through thoughtful architectural elements such as honeycomb curtains that create gradual layers of natural light, and the strategic use of camphor wood chips for natural insect control. The structure's modular design allows for complete assembly following detailed instructions, making it a remarkable example of contemporary prefabricated architecture that maintains a strong connection to traditional craftsmanship and environmental sensitivity.
