Hotel Indigo Shanghai JingAn Interior Design - Hotel
Hotel Indigo Shanghai JingAn Interior Design - Hotel is an award-winning interior design project that exemplifies innovative hospitality design through its thoughtful renovation of an existing office building in Shanghai's historic Jing'An district. Located north of Suzhou Creek, this transformative project represents a modern interpretation of local narratives, seamlessly integrating art, fashion, and multimedia elements to create a distinctive boutique hotel experience. The design, completed in 2018 under the creative direction of Xin Yan Wang, addresses the challenges of limited story height and natural light through ingenious solutions, including the installation of dramatic corrugated glass walls in the reception area and strategic LED panel placement throughout the space. The interior design breaks conventional color-matching patterns, establishing an unprecedented fusion of artistic expression and fashion-forward aesthetics within the hospitality sector. Notable design elements include carefully curated lighting schemes, sophisticated material selections, and interactive digital displays that showcase location-specific imagery, creating an immersive storytelling experience for guests. The project, which earned the Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, demonstrates exceptional space optimization while working within budget constraints, successfully disguising the original building's limitations through fantastical design interventions. The renovation emphasizes the preservation of local character while meeting contemporary hospitality standards, offering a unique alternative to generic boutique hotel solutions through its site-specific design approach and creative use of multimedia elements.
