Hope Of Sarv Ring

Hope Of Sarv Ring

Hope of Sarv Ring is an innovative piece of jewelry design that embodies cultural symbolism and functional versatility through its unique interchangeable stone mechanism. Created by Iranian designer Tina Kohkan in collaboration with Hanieh ForootanMaram and Fatemeh Hatami, this silver ring draws inspiration from the Persian Cypress (Sarv), a tree deeply rooted in Iranian cultural heritage as a symbol of resistance and resilience. The design, which earned recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Jewelry Design category, features a sophisticated opening mechanism that allows users to swap between different stones, including onyx (representing darkness), pink opal (symbolizing the sun), and pearl (embodying lunar luminosity). Crafted through traditional Iranian silversmithing techniques, including mold casting and cutting, the ring weighs approximately 6 grams and measures 20mm in diameter, with an EU size of 52. The design's conceptual foundation draws from the historical significance of the Kāshmar Cypress, also known as the sacred cypress of Zoroaster, which exemplified resilience by bending rather than breaking during storms - a metaphor for cultural preservation through adversity. This philosophical approach is manifested in the ring's physical design, where cypress branches appear to embrace and contain the interchangeable stones, creating a powerful narrative of hope and resistance against adversity while offering practical versatility in daily wear.
