Hongzhou Academy Sales Center

Hongzhou Academy Sales Center is an architecturally distinctive commercial structure located in Nanchang County, China, completed in December 2020, exemplifying a harmonious blend of contemporary functionality and traditional Chinese architectural elements. The building, designed by architect Feng Cheng and team, occupies a land area of 2,375 square meters with a floor area of 1,221 square meters, strategically positioned at an urban intersection where two primary blocks converge to create an inviting entrance square. The structure's most notable feature is its elegant curved roofline, which pays homage to the graceful eaves of ancient Chinese architecture, while incorporating modern materials such as aluminum plates connected through an innovative buckle system that creates a distinctive brick-like texture on the facade. The building serves multiple functions, including negotiation spaces, handwork areas, children's activity zones, and display areas, all designed to provide a sophisticated purchasing environment. The architectural design demonstrates particular ingenuity in its facade treatment, where designers developed a specialized gusset plate unit to maintain the integrity of the grey facade without relying on adhesives. The interior features a dramatic high atrium that enhances spatial perception, while extensive glazing facilitates natural light penetration and connects occupants with the surrounding environment. This project, which garnered the Silver A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building and Structure Design category, represents a significant achievement in commercial architecture, successfully balancing cultural sensitivity with modern architectural innovation. The design's careful consideration of materials, demonstrated through the strategic selection of aluminum sheeting for the roof after extensive comparative analysis, exemplifies the project's commitment to both aesthetic excellence and practical functionality.
