HOME Storage is an innovative desktop organization system designed by Ling Ouyang that reimagines conventional storage solutions through an emotional and architectural approach. The design consists of house-shaped containers in four distinct dimensions, creating a miniature village aesthetic when arranged on a workspace. This creative storage solution, which earned recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Art and Stationery Supplies Design category, transforms scattered desktop items into an organized, visually appealing arrangement that enhances both functionality and aesthetic appeal. The system, developed in Guangzhou during 2018, employs 3D printing technology to create structures ranging from 23mm to 100mm in width, with varying depths and heights to accommodate different items. The design philosophy integrates unconscious design and affordance principles, focusing on addressing common organizational challenges while introducing an element of whimsy to the workplace environment. Each house-shaped unit serves as a protective cover for desktop items, creating an organized landscape that contributes to a more relaxed and comfortable working atmosphere. The design's innovative approach lies in its ability to transform mundane storage solutions into emotional touchpoints, effectively combining practical functionality with architectural aesthetics.
