Hineri Object Lighting is an innovative fusion of traditional Japanese craftsmanship and contemporary technology, manifesting as a sophisticated lighting installation that exemplifies the harmonious integration of ancient paper-making techniques with modern digital fabrication methods. Created by Japanese designer Yukari Sato, this artistic luminaire employs a delicate wooden framework joined by 3D-printed titanium components, over which thin threads are meticulously arranged to create a hyperbolic paraboloid structure. The distinctive feature of this lighting object lies in its multiple layers of handcrafted washi paper, produced through repeated immersion in water tanks containing specially developed mulberry bark fiber, utilizing the pristine Kannon spring water, recognized among Japan's finest water sources. The resulting translucent surface allows light to filter through in a manner reminiscent of sunlight penetrating forest canopy, creating an ethereal interplay of light and shadow that reflects the Japanese aesthetic concept of ambiguity.
