Hill Wind Hotel and Resort is an architecturally distinctive hospitality establishment located in the historic Longwang Village of Anji County, Huzhou City, exemplifying a harmonious fusion of modern design principles with traditional Chinese cultural elements. The resort, spanning 3,500 square meters, showcases an innovative architectural approach that draws inspiration from origami concepts, featuring geometric cloud-like forms and utilizing advanced white film material in its exterior construction. Designed by Huafang Wang in collaboration with Weizhong Yue and Shuai Huang, the project was completed in April 2019 after a two-year development period. The design philosophy emphasizes the integration of built environment with natural surroundings, incorporating local bamboo and wood materials to create a seamless connection between artificial structures and the pristine landscape. The resort's architectural narrative begins with a compelling entrance featuring a narrow passage that combines nest-like formations with uneven stone textures, creating a mysterious yet inviting spatial experience. The interior spaces are characterized by continuously fluctuating ceilings, meticulously crafted through traditional artisanship, while the exterior presents a striking modern silhouette that maintains visual harmony with its mountainous setting. This exceptional architectural achievement, which earned the Platinum A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building and Structure Design category, successfully captures the essence of its location's poetic description: The cicada noise highlights the silence of the forest, and birdsong sets off the depth of the mountain. The project demonstrates remarkable innovation in its structural design, material selection, and spatial organization, effectively balancing modern architectural principles with environmental consciousness and cultural sensitivity.
